It's been a year ever since I had a real 9-to-6 job (yes, we work from 9 to 6). This time, I wanted to buy something portable so I could whip that out and make a doodle whenever I please. Instead of having to setup everything from laptop to pen display, dongle, cables, ...
My budget wasn't great so I had to get something budget-friendly. With sometime searching online, I found the base ipad model (9th gen) and samsung tab s6 lite to be suitable for my needs. Went to the nearest store the next day to try both devices. I ended up buying the samsung one.
The store had both model for me to try, the base ipad with the apple pencil felt pretty nice. It was silky smooth. For the s6 lite, it felt a bit ... of for me, there were some scritches or slight delay (for the lack of better words) when I tried to draw. Kinda put me off to be honest. Later the day, when I used it with a paperlike film, the experience improved tho.
But ... after a few weeks of use, it started showing its downsides...
First is the spen, it wasn't as good as the apple pencil. It's free but it's small, its nib isn't the greatest. It felt good for taking notes but drawing, not so much.
Second is the OS and the low-end hardware. Android is bloated when compared to ipados, it isn't as optimized and with its low-end budget-friendly hardware, I could definitely feel the lag and the constant app reloading, even rotating the screen caused my game to reload. That wasn't the case for the base ipad.
The budget-friendly price came at a sharp cost that I didn't expect.
In the end, I sold it cheap to someone else. A bit of a disappointment for my first ever tablet.
